The State of Digital
High unemployment, marginalisation and social exclusion, and the upheaval that digital transformations bring to the labour market and social and civic life: the European Commission has made it its priority to address these key challenges, and within this, education plays a key role. In her speech, Ms Angelova-Krasteva will take stock of how far we have come with these issues, and what comes next for European education policy. She believes that EU citizens need to become active users, rather than passive consumers of the digital world. A shift to competence-based learning, tackling the skills gap and the gender gap in ICT, the changing role of higher education and the need for collaboration across the EU are just some of the issues that will feature on the Commission's agenda in the coming years.
