Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the wrestlers who were protesting at Jantar Mantar and expressed his support to them. He accused the BJP of protecting its leaders who are involved in wrong activities and urged the Centre not to cut power and water supply at the protest site. Kejriwal called upon people to come and show their solidarity with the athletes.
The wrestlers have been protesting against the non-inclusion of their sport in the Khelo India Games. They have been demanding that their sport be given equal recognition and support as other sports in the country. The athletes have been sitting on a hunger strike for more than a week now and their health has deteriorated due to lack of food and water.
Kejriwal's visit to the protest site is seen as a political move to gain the support of the wrestling community ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The CM's gesture is also seen as a message to the Centre that the Delhi government stands with the wrestlers and their demands.
