Colombia is home to the largest emeralds in the world. In 1999, a whopping 11,000-carat viridescent stone was uncovered and excavated in the South American country. This gem also represents a significant part of the Colombian tradition; the Indigenous people of Chibcha used emeralds as their currency.
Carlos grew up in Coscuez, one of the main mining areas of Colombia. He started digging for green when he was working at a mining site, and has become an emerald trader. Tagging along with him, you can witness how emeralds are evaluated, traded and polished. The mystery of emeralds enchants those who lay their eyes on this gem.
