While visiting their alma mater for the Cold Out Gold Out event, Clarkson University alumni welcomed students and members of the community to join them for a series of professional workshops during the Leadership Expo, where students got the chance to ask alumni about topics related to their careers and entering the work force out of college.
Clarkson Trustee Jean Spence '79, retired executive vice president of research, development and quality for Mondelēz International Inc., kicked off the event with a keynote address, explaining that the event took on tough issues that millennials face in the workplace and also helped alumni faced with motivating younger employees.
Trustee Dianna Jones-Herrmann '85, global head of people in recovery and transformation services at McKinsey & Company, presented "Presence and Polish," and Bill Tansey Jr. '98, co-founder of HR Resolved, presented "Gauging Company Culture."
David Saums '77, principal of DS & A, presented "Negotiating Salary," and Cindy Hendrickson '83, university relations manager for General Electric, presented "Lean In -- Sponsored by General Electric."
Maggie Joy '06, senior manager of professional services at Coupa Software, presented "Workplace Obstacles," and Mark Voorhis '82, a regional operations and project manager with Bechtel Power Corporation, presented "Working Overseas."
