Greg talked from the perspective of shared mobility, which he believes is a largest platform for self-drive. “India is a totally different market, and the solutions you need to bring to India are entirely different as in western mobility. It is particularly relevant when we talk about connected mobility in vehicles and when it comes to shared mobility, you are always going to start with your customers or user journey.”
He said that the infrastructure we have here is very different from other places and so looking from user’s perspective, first and foremost thing he thinks about shared mobility is that there must be access or connectivity. Telematics thus play a huge role in providing customized solutions to make sure that last-mile and first-mile are solved. In India, there is connectivity weakness, poor signal strengths and so you have to work with Bluetooth, and other means of communication and so the company has been experimenting with many other forms like ultrasound etc. That friction is enormous as it can lead to poor user experience due to lack of connectivity, especially in areas like basement where there is less or no network coverage. He talked about how voice connectivity provides a safer driving experience, and to create more contextual awareness especially in Indian context and driver behaviour.
