A volcano in south-west Iceland is erupting for the fourth time in recent months. The volcano, near the fishing town of Grindavik, has been active for 28 days, the second longest eruption in the last three years, the first being six months in 2021. Timelapse footage shows lava erupting while the northern lights can be seen in the background. Bright orange molten rock spewed from cracks in the ground in the Reykjanes peninsula and lava crossed a road near the Blue Lagoon - a luxury geothermal spa - which had to close due to the eruption.
