The boys have an outing to three ancient prehistoric British monuments: Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circle, and West Kennet Long Barrow, in the Wiltshire countryside, summer 1975. Back in those days, while it was still managed by English Heritage (then as now,) Stonehenge was completely open . The "keeper," with his cap, even put children on the stones, and would take a picture of all of you sitting on one of the stones if you asked him nicely!
