September 30, 1942. Jagdgeschwader 53 one of our sister squadrons in Stalingrad suffered casualties and leaving some spare airplanes as a result.
Since Fegelein's number 5 plane is in repair. The JG3 mechanics were able to quickly give a minor damaged JG53 bird a turnaround making it airworthy. Plus as a bonus. It has 2 wing mounted 20MM cannons.
Situation, IL-2s are attacking elements of the LI Armeekorp (51st Army Corp). We have been scrambled alongside with elements of JG52 and our sister squadron the II/JG3 with their BF109F4s
