Slimbridge Wetland Centre. Home to the biggest collection of wildfowl in the world. We were fortunate enough to get good weather (for a few hours) and spend the day at this wonderful WWT Reserve.
Flamingos, Geese, Ducks, Swans, Otters, Amphibians and the odd pigeon are all waiting for you to turn up and give them a tasty snack.
Covering over 2,000 acres this is definitely a place that you can spend a full day. Parks for children to play in, Canoe Safari's (you can watch our canoe chaos on the link below) and wonderful displays ensure that you can spend a full day here.
If you are an Ornithologist, you will love it, if you are a child you will love it and even if you are a parent such as myself who only gets close to birds on a Sunday dinner, you will love it.
Hand feeding geese is not something you get to do often and seeing the rarest goose in the World is something that you do not do every day either. But here you can.
Otters and rare mammals can be seen as well as rare amphibians such as toads and newts, in fact this park pretty much has it all.
Make sure you take your camera and make sure you buy some bird seed when you enter so that you can really get up close with all the amazingly un-shy geese and ducks.
