Showers and thunderstorms across the west of the country today but the good news is that Saturday is set to be a brighter and drier day for much of New Zealand.
However, the west of the South Island will be keeping hold of some more cloud through Saturday with rain expected in Fiordland and southern Westland.
Showers return for Sunday but the prospects of some more settled weather are showing for next week.
