The AFR’s international analyst Misha Zelinsky says it’s quite extraordinary to think Ukraine is "365 days" into Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “24-hour war”.

Mr Zelinsky said the world did not assist Ukraine until about the fifth day when it was “clear” the country was going to hold on and “Russia was probably not going to be able to take Kyiv”.

“The world watched on as Ukrainians fought and died for their country,” Mr Zelinsky told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
