Check out these four remote teaching tips for teachers:
️⃣ Set up your learning management system (LMS) as a central area where student information and documents can be accessed by both students and parents or guardians. Teachers should include course materials, resources, contact information, policies, and class procedures for distance learning. It's important to also post your virtual office hours.
️⃣ Send out an informational email about yourself to introduce yourself as your students' teacher and give a summary of your class. Teachers might also consider including details about how to access and navigate the learning management system (LMS) for online learning purposes.
️⃣ Hold a synchronous parent meet-and-greet where you can meet the parents of your students and answer any questions they may have about the virtual classroom and distance learning. Consider recording and offering translation services to families and students.
️⃣ Collect and update student contact information and place it in a central location to easily update. Send a survey to students and families to gather information about your students. This will help you get a better picture of your student - their outside interests, learning styles, responsibilities a student might have, so you can meet students where they are.
