One man is dead and two others have been taken to hospital after an underground coal mine collapse north of Emerald in central Queensland.

Queensland police said they were called to an industrial incident involving a section of a mine collapsing at Lilyvale about 11:00pm Tuesday September 14, 2021.
"A 60-year-old man suffered significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene," police said in a statement.
The Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) said the incident occurred at the Sojitz Gregory Crinum Mine, known as the Gregory coal mine.
