Hey guys!
For today's video, let's explore The Capulin Volcano located in northeastern New Mexico. In this video, I give you the location, a lot of background info, and take you on hike to the center of this extinct cinder cone volcano. There is also a rim trail that is right at a mile in length, and you'll gain about 300 feet in elevation from the trailhead at the top parking lot. The prairie rattlesnake is common in this area, as with other nonvenomous snakes, so please be careful as you hike. Be sure to bring water, and be prepared to protect yourself from too much sun and wind exposure as well.
If you are ever driving near this area, it would be a fun stop for a few hours to get a nice hike and see all of the neat geological features. Pack a lunch, as there are tables at the visitor's center area for outdoor eating.
