Maldives President Muizzu Thanks PM Modi for Rs 30 Billion Financial Aid

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu issued a joint statement during Muizzu's first bilateral visit. PM Modi highlighted that India has always been a "first responder" in case of any issue faced by the Maldives. PM Modi further spoke about India's support to Maldives to boost its housing schemes. He said, "Today, more than 700 social housing units built with India's cooperation have been handed over (to Maldives). To strengthen economic relations, we have decided to initiate discussion on Free Trade Agreement." Later, Muizzu thanked PM Modi-led government for Rs 30 billion support, USD 400 million bilateral currency swap agreement. He said, "I’m thankful for the Indian government’s decision to provide support in the form of Rs 30 billion, in addition to a $400 million bilateral currency swap agreement, which will be instrumental in addressing the foreign exchange issues we are facing right now."
