A true hero was recognized posthumously by the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation for her humanitarian work saving lives through an online broadcast that took place on Sunday June 22, 2014. Like Oscar Schindler, Arlene Feinberg, the organization's matriarch, rescued thousands whose lives were in grave danger. She found them bone marrow donors for their much needed transplants, affording them --- and their generations to follow --- second chances at life. Arlene Feinberg passed away in January from cancer.
The broadcast was a "Virtual Gala" that came from Gift of Life's headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida, allowing supporters all over the world to witness behind-the-scenes registry operations for the first time. Hosted by Board Chairman Bill Begal and Jay Feinberg, Gift of Life's co-founder, the event featured a donor-recipient meeting, a moving video tribute and the launch of "Arlene's Vision," a $4 million fundraising campaign named in memory of the organization's matriarch.
