EQUIPMENT LIST IN DESCRIPTION.
In this video I compare several types of bass drum beaters.
I try to play basically the same thing in all of the the trials.
I start with a few single hits, then some doubles. After that I play some quick singles, followed by a few bars of flam accents.
Then I play a funky beat, a skank beat, and end it with some strange syncopated stuff.
Excuse the sloppy playing, I don't usually use those pedals, my regular pedals are permanently attached to my kit, so I didn't want to take those off. I usually use Axis A longboards.
The beaters i compare are the following.
Mapex Falcon, felt and plastic side
Roland Plastic, two orientations
The rubber iron cobra beaters
Axis Marksman beater
Some hard felt beaters
Felt Demon Drive beaters
Pearl dual sided beater, plastic side only
I don't use the felt side of the dual pearl beater in this video, as it is all worn out. Lame beater.
The bass drum is a 22" diameter, 20" depth Ddrum Diablo bass wood drum. It has an Aquarian SuperKick 1 as a batter, and an Aquarian Regulator, with 4" hole as a resonant head. There is an Evans Clear patch on the head.
I'm using a Sabian 21" Stage Ride, and Yamaha 12" Musashi Oak snare drum, with an Aquarian Hi-Energy as a batter, and Classic Clear snare side as a resonant head. It has on Puresound 16 Strand Custom Series Wires.
