(11 Feb 2022) Italy lifted the mandatory wearing of face-masks outdoors on Friday.
Despite the move, many Italians have chosen to still wear them in the streets.
The mandate still applies when people are indoors in public spaces and on public transport.
Reaction to the change in restrictions was mixed with some people calling the move a "liberation" while others said they would continue to wear the masks to protect their children in public spaces.
The government decided to lift the mandate, which was initially extended to February 10 at the end of January, after a decline of COVID-19 cases in the country and given the increasing number of people fully vaccinated.
About 77,5% of the entire Italian population has received at least two jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine.
