Most 78s we find havent been cleaned in many decades, or stored in dirty environments. After trying different methods, including record cleaning machines I have decided that this method works best for me. I let the record air dry usually, but they can be used almost immediately if you go over them with a fresh dry microfibre cloth. Demineralised water is no doubt best, but I get exactly the same results with the tap water here. Clean records sound better.
