We are happy to present Navarathri krithis of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal, specially composed for singing on each day of Navarathri. Swathi Thirunal, the Maharaja of Travancore was a patron of classical music and a brilliant composer. A contemporary of music trinity, he has over 400 classical compositions to his credit both in Karnatic and Hindustani styles. Among the nine compositions specified for each day, the first three are in praise of Goddess Saraswathi, the next three on Goddess Lakshmi and the last three on Goddess Parvathi. These group compositions in Sanskrit are known for the richness of the language, mastery over vaggeyakaratva, enriched with bhava and devotion.
