Data Preparation: Ensure you have your sales data in a Tableau-compatible format. Make sure you have a column that categorizes customers into "Top 50" and "Other."
Connect Data: Open Tableau Desktop and connect to your data source.
Drag and Drop: In the "Data Source" tab, drag the "Sales" field into the "Values" shelf.
Create a Group: Right-click on the "Customer" dimension in the "Data Source" tab, and select "Create Group." In the "Create Group" dialog box, select the top 50 customers and group them as "Top 50." You can use a calculated field or a filter to determine the top 50 customers based on their sales.
Create a Calculated Field: If you haven't already, create a calculated field that categorizes customers as "Top 50" or "Other" based on your criteria. You can use an IF statement or any other logic that fits your data.
Drag and Drop: In the "Data Source" tab, drag the calculated field (the one that categorizes customers) into the "Columns" shelf.
Create the Pie Chart:
In the "Marks" card, select "Pie" chart type.
Drag the "Sales" field into the "Angle" shelf.
Drag the calculated field (customer categorization) into the "Color" shelf.
Label the Pie Chart: To label the pie chart with percentages and customer categories, you can:
Right-click on the pie chart and select "Show Mark Labels."
Click on the "Label" shelf and choose to label with "Percentage of Total" and "Customer Category."
Format and Customize: Customize the appearance of your pie chart as per your preferences. You can adjust colors, fonts, and other formatting options.
Save and Publish: Once you're satisfied with the pie chart, save your Tableau workbook and publish it to Tableau Server or Tableau Online if needed.
This process will create a pie chart that visually represents the sales distribution between the "Top 50" customers and the "Other" customers. You can further customize the chart's appearance and layout to meet your specific design requirements.
