Wuhan Mayor Zhou Xianwang has offered his resignation after admitting information about the coronavirus was not released in a “timely manner” because of China’s authorisation procedures.
In an interview with state television, he said “we haven’t disclosed information in a timely manner and also did not use effective information to improve our work”.
He offered his resignation along with Wuhan's Communist Party secretary were willing to take responsibility for closing off the city and public indignation, including being removed from office.
