1995 DCI Solo & Ensemble Competition
Blue Devils Mixed Ensemble
A bunch of us were listening to Arturo Sandoval's Danzon album leading up to tour. A Mis Abuelos was one of our favorites so I arranged the brass for us to play. Albert and I listened to it a million times on a road trip until I had figured out all the inner parts.
Wayne Downey once referred to us as the "Latin Alcobong Dudah Band" after a spring camp rehearsal (Summerville). It was a name that we embraced proudly. He requested that we hold off on any more rehearsals during the camp. Apparently he wanted us to save our chops for the full corps rehearsal. (Go figure)
Jeff (pit instructor) arranged the percussion parts and Gino helped put it all together.
Sorry it so long to share this with you Craig (and everyone else.)
Enjoy!
