Vonêche Tunnel (Belgium SNCB) in April and May 1999
Tunnel Vonêche Ferroviaire
Further to the south of Beauraing, around 5 miles the Namur to Bertrix route enters Vonêche Tunnel. Above the tunnel mouth I set the camera up and had a grand view of the railway. On my first visit there I saw a wonderful double headed freight powering up to the entrance, hauled by class 53 locomotives. The Passenger trains witnessed on both visits were in the form of SNCB Class 44 and 45 railcars. Filmed on 21st April 1999 and again on 7th May 1999. I do hope this video entertains and evokes old fond memories of the European Railway Scene of the era.
