(23 Feb 2021) A day after outlining his government's plans for easing COVID-19 restrictions in England, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday visited a school in southeast London where he toured a testing station that's being set up ahead of pupils' return on March 8.
Johnson sat in on a partly remote science lesson with pupils and also responded to their questions.
When asked about the vaccination programme, Johnson briefly got his numbers in a muddle but corrected himself saying "one in three adults had been vaccinated".
"It's going about as fast as anywhere in the world," Johnson said.
On Monday, Johnson announced plans to slowly end a national lockdown in England in hopes of safely reopening the economy and social life as infection rates drop and widespread vaccinations reduce the threat from COVID-19.
