Tanah Kuning Industrial Area is located in Tanah Kuning Village, Mangkupadi Village and Binai Village, Tanjung Palas Timur District, Bulungan Regency, precisely on the east coast of North Kalimantan. The strategic location is right on the Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI) - II, providing geographical advantages for goods distribution routes through shipping.
Support for Tanah Kuning's energy and transportation infrastructure will be built by the Kayan I Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA), which has a capacity of 900 MW. For short-term needs, a PLTU will be built in Bulungan Regency, with a smaller capacity. The plan is to build an international port in the Tanah Kuning Industrial Area with investors from South Korea. While the construction of the international port has not started, for the distribution of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) products, it can use Kayan Port 2 located in Tanjung Selor city. Kayan Port 2, via a shortcut that is being built, is about 50 km from the Tanah Kuning Industrial Area.
The main focus of the development of the Tanah Kuning Industrial Area is into the Downstream Palm Oil Industry, a factory with a capacity of 5,000 tons per month will be built, and the process will last for 2 years.
