As Palestinian Christians prepare to mark a second Christmas at war, many families in Bethlehem are turning to the message of Christmas to provide hope during an especially bleak time. Last year, Imad and Nihal Bandak and their three children did not decorate a tree. Like the rest of Palestinians across Jerusalem and the West Bank, they marked a sombre Christmas at church and at home without the usual joy and festivities, watching images broadcast from Gaza of death and destruction.
