The Australian Defence Force (ADF) deployed construction specialists to Fiji, following a request to the Australian Government from the Fijian Government for assistance to rebuild infrastructure damaged by tropical cyclone Yasa in 2020.
A combined Army/RAAF 34 person Construction Engineering Team (CET), under the command of Joint Taskforce 637 worked closely with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RMFM) to rebuild two classrooms at the Lekutu Secondary School located on Vanua Levu. The CET also completed additional side projects in Lekutu including the installation of new solar panels and battery storage and improved electrical systems at the Police Post, Health Clinic, and Government Station.
