The chassis number of this incredible 22B is 000/000, so essentially, STi created 401 of these cars with the example in the video used as a demonstration car back in 1999 and this is the most exclusive chassis of them all. It is a rare treat for Subaru STi to allow anyone to have access to the car but I was able to get in and around it for this exclusive walkthrough.
It has travelled 20,000 kilometers since new and is in absolutely immaculate condition. Unfortunately it will likely never turn a wheel in anger again. How does that make you feel?
Should this car be confined to a museum piece or should Subaru continue to use it as a public track and event showpiece?
Also in this video is a short tour of Sti Mitaka's amazing collection of rally cars including Colin McRae's 1998 3rd place finishing SanRemo Impreza plus a couple of Petter Solbergs GDB and GRB WRC rally cars as well.
Mitaka Subaru is open to the public and visitors are welcome during office hours 9am-11am and 12:40pm~5pm, from Monday to Friday except public and national holidays.
To access STi Mitaka, take the Orange JR Chuo Line (RAPID) from Tokyo or Tachikawa and get off at JR Musashi Sakai station. From there head to the bus stations just outside and take a bus to the International Christian University for Women and get off just outside the university - Subaru Mitaka is right next door.
