Exceptional Impressions: The Collection of Alan and Marianne Schwartz is an encyclopaedic array of the history of printmaking: from best-in-class Dutch masters like Albrecht Dürer to American icons like Edward Hopper.
More than 130 prints from the late philanthropists’ trove will be offered on 23 October, ahead of the Prints and Multiples sale at Christie’s New York.
Pillars of the Detroit community and significant patrons of the Detroit Institute of Art, the Schwartzes spent the second half of the 20th century growing one of the most important and diverse private collections of prints and editions in the country.
