On August 9, 2015, a major monsoon storm severely damaged a significant portion of US 89A in northern Arizona. It has become known as the House Rock Flood. With the help of Gordian's Job Order Contracting solution, the Arizona Department of Transportation was able to rebuild over 20 miles of roadway and drainage systems in just 6 weeks.
The Arizona Department of Transportation and contractor SJ Anderson of Mesa, AZ received the 2015 Harry H. Mellon Award for Excellence in Job Order Contracting for their emergency repair work of Arizona Route 89A. The awards ceremony was held August 4, 2016 at the ADOT headquarters in Phoenix and was presented by Bill Pollak, CEO of Gordian and Dave Velarde, Mountain Region Manager of Gordian.
