Learn the best way to clean your baking sheets, formatted in this simple step by step guide. In this guide, you will learn how to easily clean baking sheets (aka sheet pans) without having to jam them into the sink and awkwardly soak them.
Burnt messes happen, and it can be tough (and sometimes, depending on how big your baking sheet is and how small your sink is, it can be unwieldy!) to clean up. In lieu of soaking your baking sheet, we recommend Dawn Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray. It cuts grease 5x faster than regular Dawn Dish Soap. You simply spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes then wash off your burnt-on or greasy mess.
If your baking sheet or sheet pan isn’t non-stick, feel free to use a scouring wool to scrub it. If your baking sheet is non-stick, try something less abrasive (like a soft bristled scrub brush) so you don’t scratch the pan. You want to baby those non-stick pans!
Another great DIY solution to clean your baking sheets is to sprinkle on some Cream of Tartar or baking soda, add a little bit of water to create a paste, and let it set 30 minutes (or overnight) until the water dries. Then simply rinse off the Cream of Tartar or baking soda residue, and the baked on mess should come off right along with it. Then just wash with dish soap and rinse, like normal.
If you’re feeling lazy (or smart!), simply line the baking sheet with foil next time you use it to avoid having to clean it afterwards. Voila — no scrubbing required!
