You may or may not know that you can right click on your desktop or in a blank spot within a folder in Windows\File Explorer an you will have a menu called New that has a listing of items to choose from to create new files in that location. For example you can create a new text document, Excel spreadsheet, Word document and so on without having to open the program itself.
The items you have here will vary depending on what programs you have installed on your computer. You can clean up this menu by removing items you don't have a need for. You can use the Windows Registry Editor or a free utility called Shell New Handler which you can download here.
