At the July 8 meeting, the Chicago Election Board reviews:
- a re-cap of all Election Code changes that were recently signed into law and about related preparations for expanded Early Voting schedules and Same-Day (Election-Day) Voter registration;
- efforts to secure agreements with polling place proprietors ahead of the November and February elections;
- preparations for the full mail canvass, which will include polling place addresses on the voter cards;
- preparations to meet with community organizations on changes in the upcoming election calendar, including the expansion of Early Voting and the introduction of Same-Day registration at five Chicago sites;
- preparations of the electronic poll book for possible use in Early Voting and Grace Period registration programs;
- the status of litigation on statewide constitutional questions regarding term limits and the creation of an independent re-mapping commission;
- the new Chicago Election Board web site becoming operational;
- the new Illinois State Board of Elections On-Line Voter Registration system going live;
- plans to replace and upgrade voting booths designed to help people of different physical abilities;
- outreach to Voter Engagement Community Forum participants to advise them that their many recommendations for reforms in Election Administration were heard and have been enacted; and,
- plans to update the 2014 and 2015 Election Calendars to reflect the legislation that was recently signed into law.
