Global Music Match Collaboration #1 w Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala
A few days ago Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala sent us a video of them playing this beautiful Finnish ballad! We then took the google translated lyrics and rewrote them to fit the music.
This is our Australian meets Finnish version of Linna Itäisellä Maalla (The Castle in the East) for Global Music Match!
LYRICS
Once long ago there was a castle so fair
Made of silver and gold and the treasures that lay there
In the dungeons so dark where the creatures did crawl
Was a young man there captured, between cold stone walls
From the town came his father to the tower to ask
“Why do you hold my son in your iron grasp?”
He offered 50 coins but no money would the king take
Your son must die for he… is a thief of a gold chain
But the chain round his neck he had not taken
But was a token of love, a gift from a young maiden
When you drown I drown too, so we can leave as one
And I’ll set the castle alight and we can be free my son
