Berdan’s Sharpshooters consisted of two regiments in the Union Army during the Civil War that specialized in in long range marksmanship skills as well as hit and run tactics. They were able to disrupt enemy forces by taking out NCOs, Officers, artillery crews, and other important targets from a distance. They were also credited for holding off larger forces during battle.
