Sensing in the automotive exterior is not only key for further developments towards autonomous driving, but also for applications that make our life simpler. For example, sensors in the exterior detect when it is raining (»rain sensing«) and then initiate the vehicle to react accordingly by switching on the windshield wipers. Night vision enhances the illumination of the field-of-view when darkness is detected.
