DID FORD MAKE A NEW FORD LIGHTNING SPORT? AN EV F-150 PERFORMANCE TRUCK!?
Well, no. They didn't.
I know... i wrote SVT, But we'll call it *Spences Vehicle Treatment* (that's me.) this time around okay? Okay cool.
This is a sneak peak at what I've done with the new ford lightning so far. Dubbing it as the ford lightning sport. I feel like if they did make a sport model of the electric ford f-150 truck, It would probably be something similar to this. Wheels, tires, and suspension, turning it into a real street performance truck, much like it's younger sibling. Other than that the 2022 ford lightning and 2023 ford lightning is already a wild street machine for such a large vehicle.
The electric f-150 lightning was definitely set out to be a game changer as far as a daily driver pickup truck, but I felt we could take it just that little bit further, because well, that's just what you do when you're constantly playing with cars and trucks. This electric pickup truck now sits about 3.5" lower in the front, and roughly 5" lower in the rear. Sporting a 24" wheel wrapped in a 305/35/24. I put this truck together in July of 2022, and have put just over 9000km on the setup by November. The electric ford lightning is our every day driver, and we could not be happier with it. These things are so much fun to drive, and now it's just that much better. I know the new ford f-150 lightning towing is what most people seem to jump at to talk about. Not me though. This truck was the very first lowered electric f-150 lightning in the world. Which is pretty exciting! I did all the measuring, and scouring the internet for shocks, or coil over ideas as soon as the ford lightning EV F-150 landed. The second I could start measuring things, I filled up my white board in the garage with notes, and got to it. The original shot at lowering it (previous video) didn't get it quite as low in the rear as I'd hoped. Really I'd still like to go a touch lower... But probably wont, as the rear skid plate is only about 3" from the road as it sits. After seeing some lightnings that went to SEMA 2022, and talking with their owners and teams online, I can't wait to see how these trucks evolve. Currently It sits on a pair of Belltech 25027 struts in the front, and modified Belltech 25001's in the rear.
I've had the question about range a LOT and how it was affected with the 24" wheels. Truth be told, I have no idea. The truck gets 500km to a charge in the summer with me driving. With my better half driving, it shrinks dramatically. l'm going to assume the 500km is pretty close to what most people are achieving in their Extended Range Lightnings. But I didn't have the stock wheels on long enough to know what "normal" is.
It'll be back up to stock height for our good old Canadian New Brunswick winter, with a leveling kit and 33's. Yes from a lowered lightning to a leveled lightning.
