During World War II, American and Filipino troops on the Bataan Peninsula valiantly resisted advancing Japanese forces despite severe shortages and harsh conditions. After months of resistance, they surrendered in April 1942, leading to the infamous Bataan Death March, where thousands of POWs perished.
