Prof Vijayakumar describes his work on developing new ways of thinking about, representing and planning motion in robotics, which he hopes will enable software for more complex robots and other machines, and for operating robots in more unpredictable environments.
It could enable more efficient manufacturing and packaging robotics, a greater use of robots in healthcare home care and rehabilitation, and even shape new thinking in synthetic biology.
