How To Make Homemade Lasagna From Scratch | The BEST Italian Christmas Lasagna Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
SAUCE:
1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 large finely diced onion
5-6 large cloves minced garlic
1 1/2 - 6oz cans tomato paste
1 - 28oz can crushed tomatoes
1 - 28oz can tomato sauce
1/2 cup red wine
2 tsp. Italian seasonings
2 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. fennel seeds
1/2 cup fresh chopped parsley
salt and black pepper
1 Tbsp. sugar - optional
1 tsp. garlic powder and additional 1 tsp. Italian seasonings 15 minutes
before sauce is done.
In a sauce pan add ground beef and sausage. Cook on medium high heat, chop and stir for 8-10 minutes or until meat is fine and no longer pink.
Add diced onion, minced garlic and 1/8 tsp. each of salt and black pepper.
Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
Add tomato paste, cook and stir for 2-3 minutes.
Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir to incorporate.
Add seasonings and wine and stir.
Bring to simmer, cover and cook for one hour or longer.
Add 1 tsp. garlic powder and additional 1 tsp. Italian seasonings 15 minutes before sauce is done.
RICOTTA CHEESE MIXTURE:
30oz ricotta cheese
1/4 cup of grated Romano or Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup grated Mozzarella cheese
1 large egg
1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley
sprinkle of salt
*Mix above ingredients well
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:
1 pound of par cooked lasagna
2 cups Mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese
Romano cheese
ASSEMBLY:
Sauce
Noodles
Ricotta Mixture
Sprinkle of Parmesan/Romano cheese and Mozzarella cheese
Sauce
Noodles
Ricotta Mixture
Sprinkle of Parmesan/Romano cheese and Mozzarella cheese
Sauce
Noodles
Sauce
Cover with parchment paper and foil.
Bake 375 F degrees for 30 minutes.
Uncover, add cheese to top.
Bake uncovered for an additional 25 to 30 minutes.
Let rest for 20 minutes before serving.
