A beautiful rainy evening is what prompted me to revisit my favourite A.R.Rahman songs on my iPod. The magic of his music brought me joy and nostalgia, as always. The very next evening, while I was at Aalaap's 'BASSment', I shared a few lines of the song that tugged at my heart the most the previous day. The next thing I knew was that I had a mic in hand and Aalaap was jamming on his bass.
Colours of Dusk thus began as a casual jam of a popular Thumri of the Rampur Sehaswan Gharana and the melodious 'Manmohana' from Jodha Akbar. Both are a call out to the Supreme Enchanter - Krishna. In an attempt to paint the myriad hues of Ghanshyam, we exchange Raags Pilu and Bhairavi. Just as the flute is synonymous with the name of Krishna, the sax can be said to be synonymous with Maarten Visser and we thank him for adding colour with his guest performance. We hope you enjoy our Colours of Dusk.
This is also a dedication to our very own Manmohana - A.R.Rahman !
