Brad Pitt may be one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, but he recently said he suffers from prosopagnosia - or face blindness. We turned to the National Institutes of Health and the co-founder of Faceblind.org to find out.
QUESTION: Is face blindness a real condition?
ANSWER: All of our sources say prosopagnosia is a real condition. Duchaine said people with face blindness don’t just have trouble recognizing acquaintances, but they might struggle to recognize a family member, close friend, or even sometimes their own face in a mirror. In some cases, face blindness occurs after a brain injury, like a stroke. But a person can sometimes relearn how to recognize faces.
