JIBRIN OKUTEPA, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria shares his view on the court judgement nullifying section 84(12) of the electoral act.
While many believe the ruling is a miscarriage of justice as the complainant did not join either the National Assembly that made the law or the Independent National Electoral Commission that is expected to implement it.
Others say the judgement is in order, contending that the section which provided that all political appointees with aspirations should resign their positions before elections is inconsistent with the constitution.
