At Eldora, we want to create inclusive winter sports experiences for everyone who wants the opportunity to enjoy our slopes and trails. For almost 45 years we've been living this mantra through our partnership with Ignite Adaptive Sports, the second oldest adaptive winter sports program in Colorado, established in 1975 when a small group of dedicated volunteers from the University of Colorado provided ski lessons to people with disabilities to enhance their lives with access to Colorado's alpine beauty.
If you've been to Eldora, you've probably seen the dedicated Ignite volunteer instructors with their bright yellow jackets providing lessons to people with disabilities. In 2020, Ignite served 285 people with disabilities—including 64 veterans—with more than 1,000 adaptive snowsports lessons, totaling more than 14,000 hours on the mountain. We are so proud of how they support our community and the partnership we've built over the years.
We'd like to support them right now as they raise more funds to build their permanent home here at Eldora. Currently, Ignite has been operating out of two modular units at the base of our lower mountain. In partnership with Eldora, Ignite is setting the goal to build a permanent, state-of-the-art facility that will provide more space, great accessibility, and more storage for their adaptive equipment that will help them better serve our people with disabilities in our community.
Please consider helping today with a donation of any amount to support Ignite's permanent home and sustain its role in creating inclusive winter sports experiences for all.
