The River Level of the Ottawa River has been fluctuating a lot this Spring . . . near record highs to unseasonably low river levels for June. A recent bump in the water level gave us a beautiful river running level on both the Main and Middle Channels of the Mighty Ottawa River. We decided to paddle the middle channel with Dragons Tongue on the menu. Dragons Tongue is the centre rapid on the Garvins Chute of the Middle Channel. There were many other whitewater kayakers and canoeists on the river that day as we paddled our kayaks to the horizon line. We had a few paddlers with us that were making their PFD (Personal First Descent) and styled it well. The level was 7 3/4 on the Shaggy Designs Gage.
