Phyllostachys aurea bamboo plant producing shoots in mid-April, after being exposed to unexpectedly low winter temperatures (-17C). All existing culms have dried out and died. This plant thrives in an uninsulated 20L container on an open terrace. New shoots are emerging only on the side of container which was turned AWAY from the winter sun.
