SETIABUDI was established in January 2000 and it started its operation at Batu 10, Jalan Gombak.SETIABUDI highlights the concepts of "One Stop Center" which emphasized the integration of academic curriculum and Islamic teachings.

Based on its the school aims mission and vision to produce students with high moral and ethical values. The old building was ealier used by Faculty of Education , International Islamic University of Malaysia ( IIUM).

It started with only one class which consists of 12 students and 3 teachers. In the ealier stage, it was under the administration of International Islamic School (IIS). The school was registered under Sekolah Al- Jamiah but later it was replaced to Sekolah Taman Ilmu Dan Budi or better known as SETIABUDI.

The name was chosen in honour of IIUM's motto. On July 2003, SETIABUDI was officially registered under Ministry of Education, registration number BIB 7062 and Jabatan Pelajaran Selangor (JPS). Hence, in June 2005, SETIABUDI was relocated at its new premis and located at Batu 8, Jalan Sungai Pusu, Gombak.
