In this Net Zero session, we showcased three projects that could be critical in decarbonising oil and gas production in the United Kingdom.
Switching to low carbon power; issues with converting brownfield facilities; large integrated, hub and spur projects; windfarms connection; modular approaches; and new technologies required were discussed by the panellists including:
• Arjit Gupta from Shell UK, represented the Central North Sea Electrification (CNSe) project – a collaboration between BP, Harbour Energy, Total Energies and Shell aiming to decarbonise multiple offshore assets in the central graben area via electrification.
• Joel Maisey from Crondall Energy, represented the Orcadian Microgrid project – a solution utilising power from floating wind turbines, supported by highly efficient and responsive gas-powered generators with enough battery power to maintain a reliable supply.
• Bridgit Hartland-Johnson from Ørsted, Mungo McLeish from Neptune Energy, and Amelia Swanney from Goal 7 jointly represented Project Neos – an industry-leading pre-Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study which has investigated the technical and commercial aspects of establishing an electrical connection between an Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) and an offshore Oil and Gas (O&G) installation.
This event was moderated by Barny Brennan and took place on May 10 2022
