Tuesday, 15 August: The UAE-Singapore Business Council (UAESBC) and the ACE.SG (Action Community for Entrepreneurship) co-organized a workshop entitled "UAE Market Insights: Opportunities in Cleantech and Fintech" to inform Singapore tech companies on the opportunities in the UAE startup ecosystem. Guests of Honor were Head of Economic Affairs for the UAE Embassy, Mr Mohamed AlZarooni, and ACE Board Member, Mr Edwin Khew who is also Founder and Director of AirCarbon Pte Ltd.
The event began with a presentation by UAESBC President, Dr Brian Shegar, on the opportunities available in the UAE for cleantech and fintech. Speakers from Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and COP28 UAE then appeared LIVE online to share the services and support available at ADGM for companies in tech and how tech startups in Singapore can participate in the COP28 UAE Climate Summit. There was also a sharing session by Mr Prakash Somosundram from Enjinstarter who has successfully setup business in Dubai and is now venturing into Abu Dhabi.
The workshop was a prelude to a joint business delegation to the UAE this year and UAESBC Director, Ms S N Huda Aljunied, shared with attendees the proposed itinerary for the cleantech-themed business delegation planned for 19th November to 24th November 2023. The event ended with a productive networking session where participants indicated a keen interest in the UAE market.
